Designer Day 4 ~ happy "HAPPY" card by lauren bergold

generally the biggest problem i have with the papers in any given pixie dust paperie kit is deciding which of their two gorgeous sides to use. in the may kit, LA DOLCE VITA, the dilemmas are particularly tough, what with the gorgeous "sweetly smitten" papers from sassafras. this one, for example... how do you decide?

well, actually, if you cut cleverly, you can use a bit of both! for this card i used part of the "reverse" side which has gorgeous faded vintage style flowers, and layered it onto the soft yellow cardstock in the kit:

i used several different graduated flower dies, and combined scraps of pink paislee, sassafras & glitz papers... with lots and lots of crumpling and ink distressing... to make a cluster of lovely blossoms which coordinate rather nicely with the girls' paperie flowers and fancy sassafras brads.

then i used part of a rub-on from my own stash, and a bit of embroidery floss to create a custom sentiment to finish my card. i printed the word "HAPPY" on my computer and used it as a template to punch holes for hand-stitching; there is a quick step-by-step illustration of this on my personal blog.

and so i wish you a very happy DAY... even if today does not happen to be your BIRTHDAY! :)
