instant accordion booklet by lauren bergold

i've made quite a few accordion booklets in my time but this one was by far the fastest! why? because i totally *CHEATED*... and you can, too! :)

september's pixie dust paperie kitTECOLOTE, contains this gorgeous sheet of gcd "antiquities" double-sided journal cards. i sliced it neatly in half to create two sets of three cards, joined them together, and scored on each vertical dividing line, et voila!

one perfectly proportioned accordion book, ready to decorate!

since my booklet is going to serve as an extra-special birthday card for my friend paul, i chose to fill mine with a poem called "field guide" by his favorite american poet, tony hoagland.

i hand-stamped the entire poem, using black ink and a very elderly alphabet set, across the four interior pages of the booklet. this took quite a bit of time, and could easily be substituted for handwriting or computer-generated text. (on the other hand, if you want to learn verse by heart, this is a good way!!!)

you can see that i joined the two panels of journaling cards using some decorative masking tape on the front and back. to give it a little context, i added some additional strips of tape here and there.

to hold the "accordion" together when closed i attached a little bit of signature pixie seam binding to the back of the booklet and tied it in a neat bow.

the beautiful dragon fly is a serendipitous find from a magazine; i mounted it on a scrap of transparency before cutting it out, to give it a little more strength. the label sitcker is from a sheet of sassafras stickers included in may's LA DOLCE VITA kit.

of course an accordion booklet can hold other things besides poetry: photographs, keepsakes, quotations, a list of birthdays, the list is endless! what will you fill *YOURS* with? i cannot wait to see! ♥

Kirsty's Note -
Awesome work, you hand-stamped the poem, oh wow, you are just an amazing crafter, thanks Pixie Lauren!!!!

Spinning round & round lo by Sandi

Hi everyone! Normally I stay clear of bright papers when I scrap...they really aren't my style, but when I opened up this kit and saw all the gorgeous stuff in it, I was so thrilled that I thought I'd use this paper for something upbeat and fun. I took out my paints, drew my circles, added some sewing to it, a few ink splats, a fun pic of my dd, one of the wonderful brads in the kit and some of the sweet paper that was wrapped around the ribbon so nicely by Kirsty...yup, I like to use everything! :)

Have a wonderful day!
Sandi

Happy Birthday card by Vio

Hi Pixie Friends!! It's almost the end of September... I've loved Tecolote all the way through. Made so many cards: I think about 7? and still have SO MUCH goodies left from the kit! I will continue creating and sharing them on my blog.
This last card from me this September uses some of the lovely brads included in the kit. The patterned paper, tag, burlap, and lace trim all also come in Tecolote. All I added were the stamped sentiment and a few pearls.

I bet there's still time to get the Tecolote kit and enjoy it for yourself. Can't stop recommending Pixie kits to you. They're some of the best in the world!!! Thank you Kirsty and Pixie girls for having me with you this lovely September.

I'm ready for treats lo by Sandi

Hi everyone! With Halloween right around the corner I thought I'd do a lo of my sweet little pup pup in his adorable little cow outfit. I thought it would be cute to call this "I'm ready for treats" because he's always ready for treats, holiday or not. Heeeheeee.
For this lo I used some misting spray/ink, owl rub-on, brad, blue trim, burlap, pp, and more gorgeous ribbon. What I really like about this Tecolote kit is that there is so many sweet goodies to pick from to put together any kind of lo!

Have a wonderful day!
Sandi

Cards by Lauren Bergold and Cheryl Nelson

It is your lucky day, we have not just ONE but TWO FABULOUS cards to share with you today

first up -
Burlap background card by Lauren Bergold

one of my favorite ingredients in this month's TECOLOTE kit is the gorgeous burlap pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe has included for our inspiration! i thought about sewing it into a pouch or pocket to hold mementos or maybe a mini-book, but while i was pondering the matter i happened to see it sitting on my worktable next to some gorgeous red prima patterned paper and one of the elegant organza flowers from the kit. i was thoroughly taken by the contrast of colors and styles, so i decided it would make a fabulously textural background for a card!

i did quite a bit of fussy-cutting of butterflies and blossoms from the "pastiche" patterned paper, and for the rest of my design i punched circles and inked the edges to get nice definition between the layered shapes. i used multiple layers of foam tape to separate each successive level... i like the way it adds a three dimensional aspect to my projects. finally i grabbed part of a pebbles pearl flourish and some red cardstock leftover from previous kits, and my masterpiece was complete!

i love the many contrasts in this card: rough and smooth, country and elegant, bright and neutral. i hope the birthday girl will love it, too! ♥

Next is -
It's a banner day by Cheryl Nelson

It is definitely a banner day when you can make NINE creations from one single kit! Such was the case with this Pixie Dust Paperie Tecolote kit. I was able to create FIVE layouts and FOUR cards with this FAB kit! I LOOOOOOOVE everything about it from the fun papers...to the lovely embellishments and lace and that oh so scrumptious twine!

So go get this Tecolote kit if you haven't already and start CREATING!

Two cards in a set by Vio

Hi there! Wow we're almost to the end of the month with September's kit! Hasn't Tecolote been so much fun? I still have oodles of goodies that I can use from this kit, and will keep creating with the supplies left.
For today, two cards made to match a little:

I added a couple of buttons and a bit of twine and a drop of little lace trim from my stash....... everything else is part of this YUMMY kit! Flowers, wide trim, tags, clear prints, patterned papers, key die-cut, brads, and much more. You'll have to get your own kit to see all the goodies in it.

I have one more card to share in a couple days before September is over. See you back then!

Double layout by Sandi

Hello Kitty layout by Sandi

Hi everyone! Today I'd like to share this lo of my dd wearing her kitty outfit. I thought this kit had such a nice array of colors and embellies that were perfect for me to use for  Halloween so I cut, painted, sewed, splattered, added this and that and voila` 'hello kitty' was created! You will absolutely love this Tecolote kit for your everyday  and upcoming holiday lo's!

Yippee..... I've got mail layout by Sandi

I am just so crazy in love with this Tecolote kit that I thought it would be fun to do a lo about it! Don't you just love getting mail?!? Well, this is just the kind of mail that I want!
For this lo I thought it would be fun to start with this  fun stripe paper, add a little paint /ink and that fun 'Carte postale' tag that came in the kit. I then added my mailbox pic and the 'return address' stamp, that I cut out of the kit's box, a couple of the neat embellies  and voila` my lo was created! The papers and embellies in this kit are just so easy to play with!

Have a wonderful day!
Sandi
