rock star birthday card by lauren bergold

there is no doubt that the march pixie kit FLORIBUNDA is full of soft pretty papers, elegant embellishments, and flowery goodness. all of which might make one think it'd be difficult to make a full-on guy card. one would be wrong, though. see?

the reverse side of the beautifully intricate pink paislee paper has this awesome star; the glamorous white parisian anthology chipboard letters can be inked into a variety of vibrant colors; and the elegant glitz design rub-ons are more flexible--and more unisex--than you might think at first glance. all i needed to add was a bit of ink & stitching & a dymo label...and BOOM!

guy card??! no problem! rock-on, pixies...ROCK ON! ♥♥♥

L♥O♥V♥E card by lauren bergold

all of pink paislee's "parisian anthology" products featured in this month's pixie kit, FLORIBUNDA, are specially made to be mistable, inkable, and generally able to be custom-colored to exactly the right shade one might need. ...but... they also look pretty fabulous right out of the box!

i love the funky fabulous mixed font of the gorgeous corrugated alphas. they're a great size, too: big enough to use on 12x12 layouts...but not so huge they can't fit on a good-sized card. (this one's roughly 6x8") i think they look incredibly elegant on the tone-on-tone "lovely lace" paper. i swapped out the letter "O" in favor of one of the tim holtz ornate plates from the kit. it was already a very pretty distressed bronze metal, but i used a few swipes of copper alcohol ink to make it even more posh!

i cut away the center of the intricate frame element from the "lovely lace" paper and backed it with a bit of floral goodness from pink paislee's "sweetness" line, and finished the whole thing off with some glitz rub-ons. one of my favorite things about rub-ons is how easily adaptable they are: i cut apart the "ADORE" definition to use the word in my title and the meaning inside my focal-point frame, and instantly got twice as much mileage from it. cha-ching! :)

if you L♥O♥V♥E gorgeous art supplies and ♥ADORE♥ a good value, the FLORIBUNDA kit is a must-have item for you this march! :)
