fashion-inspired cameo card by lauren bergold

the SUMMER OF LOVE kit is--as all pixie dust paperie kits are--full of delicious embellies, but i was particularly impressed by all the "dressmaker details" this month: lace and floral trimmings, buttons, gems, stickpins, pearls; even some of the papers have a fabric-like look, with lacy prints, pin stripes, and even cameos! each element works wonderfully well on its own, or you can pile them all on together for a more concentrated effect:

i like to stitch on my cards anyway, but this birthday card for my sister almost became more of a sewing project than a papercrafting one, as i could not resist running my machine around ALL the lovely layers!

i have to confess that i am generally quite lazy about decorating the insides of cards--usually i just stamp "happy birthday" and call it done-- but there are so many cool transparent sentiments in the set of heidi swapp "clear extras" that i was inspired to combine one with some cut-out elements from the teresa collins "posh" paper and make a little vignette:

i used another transparency on the front (sewn on, of course!) to highlight the fussy-cut "cameo" which i mounted on *three* layers of foam tape for extra dimension; and then piled on lots of pretties to make her look even more beautiful!

the only problem is, i think i might need a new OUTFIT... because i can't present *this* card whilst wearing just any old thing, now can i??! :)
