elegant shaker card by lauren bergold

when i first started making cards, well over a decade ago, there was quite a fashion for "shaker cards" especially for children, and i always loved them. when i saw the elegant my mind's eye transparency frame in the TECOLOTE kit, i knew immediately i wanted to bring back the shaker card... but give it a more grown-up, elegant twist!

the beautiful vignettes of melissa frances' "jewell" paper seemed like the perfect thing to feature within my transparency's window. i used the rich brown patterns from gcd and mme to build a more substantial frame, trimmed it up with flowers cut from the girls' paperie "jubilee" print, and finished off with a coordinating melissa frances tag. i made my base from brown card stock adorned with prima's butterfly-strewn "tiptoe" paper, wrapped in luscious mme "stella and rose" lace trim. finally i punched tiny butterflies for the inside of the shaker.

i think we can now definitively say that victorian elegance and 21st century ♥FUN♥ work surprisingly well together! :)
