i have confession to make: almost all the work involved in this project was done FOR ME! seriously, this was a very simple... and fairly quick... item to make! it looks pretty sophisticated, though, doesn't it?!
but here's the thing: 90% of this is just cleverly die-cut patterned paper!!! the butterflies were made with a two-part quickutz die; and the papers (which feature girls' paperie, prima, gcd, my mind's eye, and melissa frances) were chosen by pixie-in-chief kirsty to make up the TECOLOTE kit!
all i had to do was cut the shapes, embellish with a little bit of our signature crinkled ribbon, add a brad, and hot glue them to bamboo kitchen skewers!
it helped that a couple of months ago i found this adorable bright green metal pail in the $1 aisle at the craft store. how *perfectly* does it match the "lime twist" papers by my mind's eye? not to mention the baker's twine in the kit--i just HAD TO crochet that into a little flower accent! i used some border punches and the my mind's eye "stella and rose" trimmings to dress up the top and bottom of the pail.
the lime twist mini alphas, adhered to smaller, punched butterflies, make the perfect sentiment for any occasion.
to hide the brads at the back, and reinforce the skewers a tiny bit more, i also hot glued some of the smaller punched butterflies to the back, so they look equally good from all angles!
i can see a zillion uses for a project like this, can't you? to offer congratulations; as a get well gift; to honor a special birthday or anniversary; the next time we think about sending flowers, maybe we should send ♥BUTTERFLIES♥ instead! :)
