"MANIFESTO" mini-book by lauren bergold

let me ask you this: when was the last time you crafted something just for *YOU*? something both personal and impractical, that you actually got to keep? if, like me, the answer to that question is, "i really don't remember" then you're probably overdue! the following project is a quirky, photo-less, mini-book i built around the lovely set of pink paislee "flip notes" that come in the MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM kit. as i considered what to make with these 3x5" tabbed cards, it occurred to me: i really didn't want to give them away! so i used them for a project i've had in the back of my mind for over a year.

i first came across architect and designer bruce mau's "incomplete manifesto for growth" in 2010, and this set of inspired, inspiring, practical, thought-provoking points on how to keep one's creative life fresh completely blew me away. ever since then, when i would (frequently!) go back and re-read these ideas, i'd think to myself, "i should write these down somewhere"... and finally i have!

since there are 43 points in the manifesto, and only 6 cards, i started by tracing & cutting out the cascading tabbed shapes using papers from the july kit... and scraps of leftover papers from previous pixie dust paperie kits... until i had enough pages.

then i formatted the manifesto, and printed it out on clear labels from the office supply store. (i find the full-sheet ink-jet ones INVALUABLE for adding text to papercrafting projects!)

since the MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM kit comes with an entire booklet of girls' paperie stickers that includes *three* seriously generous alphabets in a range of useful sizes, i decided to create the headings from stickers and dymo labels, while using the typed text for the explanation of each point.

when that--by far the longest step--was complete, i inked the edges of all my pages, punched them with my cropodile, and threaded them onto a book ring that i trimmed up with the cool black metal key from the kit, and loads of signature pixie dust seambinding!

finally i used more dymo labels, and more gorgeous alphas, to add the title to my cover; and finished up with a grungy flower made from a girls' paperie jubilee blossom and the packaging in which it came!!!

i hope today you will be inspired by something that's meaningful to you... and that you will go and make a project for ♥YOURSELF♥!!!
