i was deliberating between a card and a wall-hanging, until i found a sweet little papier mache dress form at michaels...and the entire idea transformed in ONE SECOND!
i had envisioned specifically the combination of beautiful graphic45 vintage-themed stickers and the glamorous tim holtz trimmings & buttons...both of which of course telegraph "fashion" and "dressmaking" so wonderfully well!
the rosebud trimming makes a lovely boa for my mannequin, and i constructed a corsage for her out of patterned papers and tim holtz's "tattered floral" flower dies.
the tiny paper rosebuds in the kit work well when collaged with tiny punched blooms. (the miniature pearls are the only item i've used from my own stash, apart from inks, stamps, dies and punches.)
continuing the "tim holtz" theme, i used gesso and distress inks with my own "stampers anonymous" unmounted rubber, in this case working WITHOUT an acrylic block so that i could curve and bend the flexible stamps around the dressform's curved surfaces.
at the lower end i constructed a fancy edging for my couture outfit, using the fun mini-cupcake wrappers from the kit, more rose trim, and the glamorous sheer ruffley ribbon.
my one technical puzzle was how to permanently adhere the nice solid G45 cardstock stickers to the curvy mannequin's shape. a liberal coat of matte gel medium proved to be the perfect solution; whilst my trust hot glue gun was more than equal to the task of affixing the corsage, trims, and buttons.
if there is a more fun and satisfying way to spend a rainy sunday afternoon than this...i really cannot imagine what it is! ♥
