round card with poppies by lauren bergold

is it just me, or when you get new stamps, do you kind of want to use them onEVERYTHING?! pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe gave me these gorgeous pti poppies for my birthday, and i am seriously hooked! when i saw the gorgeous red blossoms on cosmo cricket's "remnant" paper in august's PICNIC BASKET kit, i could not resist pairing them with my poppies!

strictly speaking, i suppose the cosmo flowers are roses; but i used a make-up applicator to darken the centers with black ink, and by golly, i'm calling those babies "POPPIES" now!!! :) i stamped my own blooms on the reverse (texty) side of the "gingham stripe" girls' paperie sheet in a combination of distress inks and spray mists, and then added watercolor highlights and some black glitter glue in the centers. i die-cut the panel and mounted it on soft green cosmo cardstock.

the concentric layers of the round card base were constructed using an ordinary old circle compass that belongs to my husband! (if anyone had told me in 6th grade i would need one of those as an adult i would have laughed my head off!!!) for interest and texture i've added a few punched borders of coordinating papers from the kit in cream, green and soft yellow; and pleated the luscious red grosgrain ribbon. the "smile" sticker is my only cheat... at the very end i thought that panel just needed one more thing, and a sheet of clear sentiment stickers was sitting on my work table from a previous project.

i do hope that this will be the first of MANY happy smiles you receive today! ♥

Kirsty's Note -
Pretty thing that put a smile on everyone's face, thanks Pixie Lauren!
