whole lotta "LOVE NOTES" by lauren bergold

the january pixie dust paperie kit, ♥LOVE NOTES♥ is great for making sooooooo much more than valentines. having said that, if you'd like to make some completely FABULOUS ones, you can do that in a snap. see?!

i made all six of these mini-cards... (which will indeed serve as valentines for my nieces and nephews!) ...in about an hour, using nothing but cardstock, paper and my trusty dymo labeler. it really, REALLY helped that pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe packed this kit with the most gorgeous new love-themed papers from my mind's eye, american crafts, pink paislee and crate paper, and that nearly every sheet is double-sided-- giving me twice as many patterns with which to work.

the three layered heart is cut using the very first cuttlebug die i ever bought when i got my machine, yet it's still one of my favorites! mostly because, by cutting it just once from four or five different patterns, i can get a huge variety of mix-n-match looks from the same set up!

i ALWAYS love the smudgy look on the edges of my pieces, but honestly, this time i discovered at the very last minute that i didn't have any maroon dymo tape from which to punch my labels, and the black looked a little stark until i spread a bit of that color--in the form of ink, and also black machine stitching--throughout my design. so now you know my one of my tricks!!! ;)

here's another secret for you: i'm planning to get a friend who is unknown to the children in question to sign these "guess who"! i'm hoping to create a fun little mystery, but i'm not so sure it'll be successful; not only are they *VERY* smart... they've also seen quite a lot of my work!!! ♥♥♥

tiny butterfly window note cards by lauren bergold

one thing i can never seem to keep enough of in my card stash is little note cards. you know, the kind you tuck in with a gift or a package? recently i found some very cool 2 x 3" envelopes at a garage sale, and even though i think they're too small to mail on their own, they're PERFECT for this purpose.

when i saw pink paislee's "trellis" paper in the PICNIC BASKET kit, i fell in love with it's beautiful double-sided goodness! it's two-toned grey on one side with silhoutted white abstract flowers; while the reverse is a stunning goldenrod with a thin tracery of vines and blossoms. i wanted to use BOTH SIDES at once, so i thought an aperture design would be ideal. i used my martha stewart "anywhere" butterfly punch to make the window in the note cards, then punched the same style of butterfly in three smaller sizes from scraps.

a few tiny offcut strips to dress-up the outside of the cards, dymo label greetings, a bit of ink around all the edges and some miniscule (non-kit!) black pearls were all i needed to finish up. i used the butterflies created by making the windows to adorn the envelopes.

and now i am ready at any time to send surprises to four of my friends! ♥

Love Notes by Kirsty Vittetoe

Hi all, I hope you have enjoyed all the lovely creation done by our lovely and talented Pixie DT by now, aren't they the most wonderful gals? It is my turn today, I am showing this "LOVE NOTES" set created using Pixie Dust Paperie's October Kit "Fall in Love". Don't we all love receiving these little love notes every now and then?

I love sticking these love notes into my husband suitcase, when he travels for work by himself, and there is a little surprise waiting in his bag for him, isn't that cool?

I love sticking them into my daughter's school bag too...

Or you can make a set and give it away as a small gift

Best part of all, I made these little love notes using the scraps after I've done with the bigger projects such as layout pages, mini album, a banner, a note pad, and 2 cards

There is just so much goodies in this October Kit, that you can make 5 -6 projects and still have lots of scraps left over to make little things like this love notes set

Everything you see here are from the October Kit, lots of pretty soft colors DP, Maya Road chipboard alphabets, pretty trims and the stickers page, if you ever need more, the sticker page is available as an add-on item from The Pixie Shop too!

Thanks for visiting Pixie Blog and be sure to come back tomorrow for another beautiful creation by Emeline Seet
