ask anyone the best part of working with a kit and i'm pretty sure you'll always get the same answer: making gorgeous cards and layouts is unbelievably easy because all the hard work of coordinating colors and textures has already been done!!!

all you have to do is sit down, combine the ingredients in ANY order that appeals to you, and something lovely is bound to happen. case in point:


the websters pages stickers mix beautifully with lace trim from the same company; the soft subtle patterns of the october kit's papers coordinate perfectly; there is even cardstock in exactly the right shade for my card base! so all i had to do was the FUN PART:

i played around with arrangement, inked the maya road chipboard letters, attached my bulkier elements with the sewing machine, and finally added some whimsical hand-stitching at the end.

oh and just in case you think the bottom mat was a cheat, since clearly it IS NOT one of the patterned papers in the kit...

...yeah...it's the backing sheet from the trim collection! because even the packaging is cool enough to USE!!! :)

I used to scrapbook a lot when my children were younger, but since I fell in love with card making, I have neglected doing layout pages, but when I saw those pretty papers in the October Kit, I had to dig out those old pictures and start to scrapbook again

The lace trim included in the kit are so pretty, I just can't have enough of them

Look at those blooms and fabric button... aren't they as cute as can be?

These photos were taken in 2003, when my older girl was accepted to study at The Juilliard School with a full scholarship, Lincoln Center and The Juilliard School had gone through some major renovation a year ago, I am glad that I had these pictures to preserved the memories I had with them in New York City.

Journal Spot Mini Book by Lori Hairston

I love tea! The Maya Road kraft journal cards are so pretty and I thought they'd make a great mini book.
I went with a tea theme. I used bits of stickers I had left and the little bit of pink seam binding ribbon that I had saved.
I even used scraps of that gorgeous MF paper. I then filled it with my favorite sayings that have to do with tea. I think the first one by Eleanor Roosevelt is my very favorite!
The stamped teapots and cups are so cute. I think this would make a darling favor at a tea party.
What do you think?

And here's a bonus idea for the journal spots (especially the ones with that pretty black frame). How about Halloween tags for a treat bag? Just stamp and add ribbon.

Pretty easy, but frightfully cute!

Friends Layout by Jessy Christopher

Friends are important people in our lives. We need friends in our daily life. They will make us laugh, hear our problems and even care for us for our ups and downs. I am blessed to have such wonderful friends in my life. I do not consider my colleagues as mere colleagues but my friends. I truly enjoy going to work each day and having great friends make my work pleasant each day!

This layout I created using a picture of my working colleagues.

They have been a real blessing to me.

I used the brown rayon seam binding to create a flower by sewing & added fabric brad as the centre.

For the title, I inked the alpha with brown and I applied glossy accent to give a faux puffy paint look.

Die-cuts like Sizzix or Quikutz are perfect to be used for papers that do not have busy background/graphics.

baby love minibook ♥ by Lauren Bergold

i don't know about you, but when i get a bunch of new supplies, i always want to dive in and use ALL OF THEM at once! when i got this month's pixie dust paperie kit, with its gorgeous soft pastel patterned papers and pretty trimmings, that feeling was stronger than ever. inspired by the sheet of baby-themed websters' pages lullaby lane stickers, i decided to make a little "welcome" gift for my cousin who is expecting twins!


the only item i have added to the generous supplies in the kit is the graduated chipboard album, which was a "dollar spot" find at michael's not long ago; i'm sure you have something similar in your stash...OR ...you could use a bit of "spare" chipboard (like the backing sheet that comes in the kit!) to make your own; or i believe there are blank minibooks available in the pixie dust shoppe as an add-on item.

my favorite thing about the melissa frances and american crafts papers, along with the websters' pages stickers and trims--all of which co-ordinate so beautifully and effortlessly-- is how i was able to mix and match all of the patterns in lots of different ways. i genuinely do not think it would even be possible to go wrong with this kit: pixie-in-chief kirsty has done all of the WORK for us...we can just sit down and play!

here are the inside pages of my book:

my top tip for quickly and easily covering chipboard with patterned paper is this: step away from the edge!!! by which i mean, trace your chipboard shape (in this case the album pages) in pencil, but then cut 1/16th of an inch *INSIDE* the line; this way you will never have to trim overlapping paper with a craft knife! ink the edges of the chipboard if you like (here i've used a creamy brown chalk ink) and distress the paper for a fun shabby chic effect. machine stitching adds texture...and ensures that "page peel" will never be an issue!

i used a couple of cuttlebug dies and some border punches to add interest to the graduated edges of the mini-book's pages; inside i've used the baby-themed stickers to decorate mostly around the perimeter, to leave lots of room for photos of the babies when they arrive. welcome little ones, i hope you will like your book!

Precious Layout by Jessy Christopher

Have you been using your scraps/leftovers lately? Scraps are really fun to use when you just wanna create or intend to create a simple looking layout. For this layout below, I used the "Fall In Love" Oct kit scraps I am left with. Nothing go to waste!

I punched the edges using one of the EK Success punch I have on the pink cardstock and layer it with the grey cardstock. I have also layered all the tiny scraps together to create a clustered-looking frame around the photo.

For the alpha, I first inked it with a pink ink. Once dried, I sprayed red mist on it to create a faux marble looking alpha. Finally I added some glossy accent. In this photo you can't really see the effect but it looks really interesting in real life.

Another great way to use the leftover trims is to layer it together with the scraps.

The "leaves" are from one of the Melissa Frances papers. An awesome idea to enhance the bright flowers and pretty seam binding, aight?

Emeline - Oct (Card)

Hi! This is Emeline and I'll love to share with you a card I created using October "Fall in Love" kit. This card, measuring 4"x6" is created using sweet Melissa Frances' papers from Pixie Dust Paperie's FIRST ever kit! Love the trims that came along with the kit.





In the October kit, you'll find some dyed pink seam binings. Lots of them; and they are really pretty! Here, i layered the dyed-pink seam binding on top of Webter Pagers trims.



Trims and lace are abundant in this month's kit, go grab yourself a kit! :)
