Hi:)

Today I will show you the notebook which was created from the kit "You make life fun." I really like to do notebooks, although recently I haven’t done so much of them, so that’s why this time I decided to do notebook.

Inked and jagged edges give the impression that the notebook looks old and “beaten by the tooth of time”. Vintage style is also emphasized by the image of the birds which I printed out. Elegance and femininity is add by the cut parts, buttons and pretty ribbon attached to the spring.

patchwork party gift bag by lauren bergold

by now probably everyone knows that i have a niece born on valentine's day, and that i love to decorate gift bags... here's a project, made with february's YOU MAKE LIFE FUN kit, which celebrates both! i started with a plain shopping bag, about 10.5" tall. i buy these at my local big box craft store, i generally get a dozen--in various solid colors--for $4 or so, and i like to keep a bunch on hand. given the gorgeous selection of papers from my mind's eye "fun day" line this month, i knew kraft-colored was the way to go. i also knew i wanted to use the "patchwork party" paper... and, as befits a patchwork theme, to do quite a bit of cutting out!

the complete motifs at the center of the page made a brilliant stacked flower! all i had to do was cut them, ink them, place each layer on a few pieces of foam tape for dimension, and add a button-adorned scalloped circle to the center.

the partial flowers near the edges of the paper were equally useful: when i looked at the petals, i realized each tapering pair made up a sort of heart shape. and what could be better to adorn the birthday present of a valentine girl??! i added a few cosmo cricket buttons and hand stitches with black embroidery floss.

i am not sure my nieces are aware that gift bags purchased at the store do not automatically come emblazoned with one's name, but certainly, they are never going to learn that from me! for this version i used my computer to size and print riley's name in "pickwick" font, which i then cut from pink paislee's "prep school" pattern. again, the letters are mounted on a bit of foam tape, to lift them from the background paper.

nieces who get sweeter... (and cuter, and smarter!) ...every year are just one of the things that make MY life fun me; my pixie kits are another!!! :)

"SMILE" embellished frame by lauren bergold

this month's pixie kit is called YOU MAKE LIFE FUN and it is aptly named: with such a fabulous assortment of papers and embellishments, who could fail to enjoy making a variety of cool projects?! someone who definitely "makes life fun" for everyone around him is my young friend carlos, seen in this photo:

you may recall that one of my LOVE NOTES projects last month was also an embellished frame, it is for carlos' sister isabel; since their birthdays are close together, i try to make them each a similar--but unique and personal gift--so i was really excited that this month's kit had everything i needed to make a "boy version"!

one of the centerpieces of this kit is a line i happen to ♥LOVE♥... "fun day" by my mind's eye! the patterns on two of the papers were IDEAL for fussy-cutting purposes: the reverse side of "sugar rush" has a zigzag pattern that became an instant flag banner, which i spiced up even more with the super-fun circle garland from the same source, with some bright and beautiful cosmo cricket buttons on top.

"pinwheel party" provided the perfect little set of icons for the lower section. i punched some stars from complimentary sheets by crate paper and pink paislee for the centers, and used a couple of tiny brads from my stash to hold them together; the stems are tiiiiiiiiny slivers trimmed with my paper cutter from crate paper's "exposure" sheet.

i diecut the letters in "smile" using my cuttlebug, inked the edges of absolutely everything, and assembled this in a flash!

what could possibly make life more fun... or easier... than that?! ♥

Hi all:))

I'm back after a long break caused by my health problem. Now everything is ok, so I'm with you again :).

Today I want to show a LO with my daughters photo. Her play with an old camera was captured by my husband modern camera ;)

On this work I used the paper My Mind's Eye from Kraft Funday collection in Pixie February Kit "You make life fun". Thanks to the good paper quality it is possible to play with a media without any worry.

To do a background I used a gold and white acrylic paint and Glimmer Mist. I played with masks and stamps so that paper became even more interesting.

Do you see these circles with sunflowers in the middle? They are rubons. The surface of them is perfect to paint by colorful inks or mists.

it's a well-known (& awesome!) fact that the pixie dust paperie specializes in finding the prettiest papers and the most beautiful embellishments, and this month's LOVE NOTES kit is certainly no exception. so you may be wondering if they can ALSO be used to produce fun masculine cards and layouts? if i may, i'd like to give my answer in card form:

the reverse side of crate paper's "denim" sheet is a lovely floral... but this side is fab as well, don't you think? pink paislee's "cozy sweater" has a fun geometric on one side and an awesome graph on the reverse. my mind's eye's "love me" paper is neutral--both in color and gender--as are a bunch of the elements in the giant 12x12 set of crate's "random" chipboard. the distressed pale green ledger panel was cut from the packaging of pink paislee's "wood chip" alphabet. speaking of which:

those babies are already an attractive shade of natural pale wood and frankly look great right out of the package; but i couldn't resist using a texty background stamp to give mine a little more personality! and then there's the star of the card:

ok, no, he wasn't actually included *IN* the kit. :) but i bet, like me, you've got a few favorite digital files, right? having a small nephew (& crazy brothers-in-law, lol!) some of mine happen to be monsters. this one, from a set called "monstrous" by jesse edwards, is sadly out of print, but there are loads of others available; plus clipart works well for this; or try a google image search of "monster" and "paper-piecing" and see what you get!

the gorgeous package of crate paper's "random" trimmings which come in the kit included this fantastic extra-thick baker's twine. i attached it to my card using fast-dry tacky glue. i love the way it frames my sentiment composed with the wooden letters, a bit of computer-generated text, and my trusty dymo labeller!

and there you have it: a monstrously festive "guy card" that surely any husband, nephew... or crazy brother-in-law... would love to receive! :)

i don't scrapbook, as such, but i have been known to make altered frames... which is, afterall just fancier and more permanent type of layout! since this particular frame holds the photo of one of my favorite kids in the world--my best friend's daughter, miss isabel--it seems only fitting i should use the LOVE NOTES kit!

this frame measures approximately eight inches square, and i found it in the section of my local big box craft store where all of the unpainted wooded and papier mache items are kept. would you believe it cost ONE DOLLAR??! ok, granted, it was unfinished when i purchased it, needed quite a bit of sanding around the edges, and it does not have glass or plastic covering the photo area. but then i knew i wanted to customize this and give it to a young lady who will turn three this spring. so those factors actually WORKED for me! :)

in addition to the name, the variety of papers and embellishments in the LOVE NOTESkit was perfect for what i had in mind! the thing which sparked my idea to begin with was the my mind's eye "doily banners paper". as soon as i saw it, i knew that if if cut out the banners and draped them over and around the frame they would look FABULOUS... and i think was i was right about that, don't you?! :)

the second thing i added was a bunch of elements from crate paper's "random" chipboard sheet. every piece of chipboard you see here (except the pink butterfly which is teresa collins' from the PINK ROSE COTTAGE kit) was part of the 12x12" sheet that came in the kit... and i doubt i even used half of the fun icons provided!

the words "happy", "adorable" and "sweet"... plus that super-fab cupcake and the funky ampersand... were all ready to use our of the packet. heck, they are even self-adhesive, you cannot get much EASIER than that, right?!

my favorite part is the collection of tiny chipboard buttons, gems and little stickers that frame the heart-shaped opening of the frame. it's hard to think of anything that would be cuter AND ALSO draw one's attention *immediately* to the sweet girl's face!

and now i cannot wait for this little gal's birthday to arrive... so we can take a brand new"adorable, happy & sweet" photo to go into the frame!

you'll have noticed that i ♥LOVE♥ to make fancy little gift boxes. there are a couple of reasons for this: one is that i am always attracted to them in gift shops, where they areexpensive! another is that i have a lot of crafty friends to whom i enjoy giving a "little something" on their birthdays, and having some really AMAZING packaging always makes a small gift look a lot cooler, in my opinion. this particular one i made using january's fabulous LOVE NOTES kit:

i started off with one of those little papier mache boxes they sell in the craft superstores for about $1.50. i stained all the edges black with a permanent marker before affixing my trimmed papers. i used the awesome crate "denim" pattern, and the reverse of pink paislee's "cozy sweater" for the top.

when wrapping paper around the side of the box, it's important not to try and take your paper UNDER the part that the lid will cover; unless your lid happens to have a VERY loose fit, it's not going to slide over an extra layer. you can see, below, that i only applied about an inch-high strip of the denim. this is why it's nice to have colored the unfinished box with a marker, it makes it blend in a bit better!

of course, in this case, i also knew i was going to add the luxurious blue velvet lace from crate paper's "random" trimmings, and that would cover any gaps rather nicely. inside the box, i've got a little collection of vintage buttons, some of which have crystal or rhinestone details, which is why the american crafts sticker "bring your own sparkle" worked so well.

for finishing touches i added a "random" chipboard sticker (which i trimmed into two pieces to fit better) and a few of glitz design's rhinestones trimmed from the beautiful borders in the kit. and now i am ready to bestow this lovely treat on a special sewing friend!!! (shhh! don't tell, ok?!) ♥

if you want to make your most fabulous valentines ever, this month's kit, ♥LOVE NOTES♥ is definitely right for you!!! it's got every element you need: a perfect color palette featuring plenty of reds and pinks; lots of great love-themed papers; loads of hearts and flowers, etc. on the other hand, whoever said that sort of thing only works on valentines, eh? personally, i think this is one of the best "thinking of you" cards i've ever made!

for that matter, i believe i could have made these same supplies into a pretty great birthday or anniversary card... or a fun layout celebrating my adorable nieces and nephew... or a cool mini-book about paris! the best thing about any pixie kit, in my opinion, is not the "theme" at all, but the fact that every gorgeous product has been selected to work well with every other bit of the kit!!!

by now you'll have realized that my favorite technique is collage, and i have to confess that i've been known to spend quite a bit of time finding all the right "bits and bobs" to put on a card. with a pixie kit, miss kirsty has already done that for me!!! on this card you can see i have the best background and matting papers EVER ("sweet eiffel" and the "numers grid" by my mind's eye); a wonderful sentiment sticker from american crafts; two lengths of trim plus a few chipboard stickers from crate paper's random collection; and gems snipped from webster's pages "dazzle me" strips. every single bit of which was apre-made element!!! ok, yes, i did a little fussy-cutting from other papers in the kit (the hearts & doily) and i did some inking and distressing around the edges of my papers. but that's mostly because i just ENJOY doing those things!

if you've never worked with a kit before, all i can say is, "try it once"... because i'm confident that the amazing "jump start" to your creativity will convince you far better than i ever could!!! ♥

a Valentine's day project

"100 hearts" valentine minibook by lauren bergold

there are plenty of things you can do besides make valentines using january's LOVE NOTES kit, but if you want to make a few valentine-themed projects, i don't think i've ever seen a better bunch of products for the purpose!

and as a matter of fact, i'm a bit of an expert in this field, since my niece riley happens to have been born on valentine's day! this year i made this little minibook for her, and i think it's rather adorable! :)

you can see that, as in all pixie kits, the paper selection is not only beautifully matched, but perfectly balanced with regard to colors, patterns and scale. since everything works so well together, most of the hard work is already done and you can jump right into the fun part: actually MAKING your project!

90% of this little book is paper that i've trimmed, inked, outlined, diecut... or all of the above! but for the cover i grabbed a couple of crate paper's chipboard elements (in this case, the frame and the flower) from the "random" collection. you get an entire 12x12" sheet in the kit, and i guarantee you'll love them as much as i do!

i chose a short but sweet heart-themed poem for riley's book. i formatted most of the text on my computer and printed it out on clear inkjet labels from the office supply store, but i used the fabulously bold pink paislee alphabet to highlight a significant word on each page.

the blonde wooden letters are already gorgeous in their natural state, but for this project i decided to make them even more dramatic by staining them black using a permanent marker.

i used the same marker around the edge of each of my graduated chipboard pages. the cover is approximately 5 1/2 inches square; whereas the last page measures 5 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches... so it would be big enough to hold a heartfelt greeting to the birthday girl herself!

having been lucky enough to receive a bind-it-all for christmas, i actually constructed and bound this book myself, and i liked the idea of staggering the pages to really show of the gorgeous patterns. you could do the same thing using rings or ribbons to hold your pages together, or i happen to know there are also some cute mini albums in the pixie shop! ;)

while this design was created specifically for miss riley's valentine's day birthday... i don't think your own nieces (or daughters or mother or second cousins!) would mind receiving"one hundred hearts worth" of your love... no matter when their birthday happens to occur!!! ♥♥♥

My name is Agnieszka but in the scrapbooking world I go by Bellaidea. Together with my husband - I'm still dating him - we're taking care of our two treasures - a Girl and a Boy.

I love traveling, taking photos, oranges and African bush aroma, cheesecake with real vanilla Pavlova dessert, old books, pictures and houses, doilies, trips with friends to Italy, evenings by the fireplace, milk chocolate from Lindt, mystery perfumes, nut ice-cream, reading books to my children (no matter they can read by themselves), audiobooks during long distance drive, praising people for their talent and creativity and meeting with other nice ladies for a cup of coffee.

I scrapbook for many reasons - to preserve memories, to make my kids remember I always care about them, to have MY time when I need it, to keep in touch with all my scrap-friend all over the world.

My style is eclectic, part of romantic, touch of whimsey, I like to use lace, chipboards, doilies, torn corners, fussy cutting etc but never forget the most important is the photo and a story. Sometimes I hide my journaling when it is very personal.

I design my favorite 12x12 layouts for several websites. It satisfies me strongly. I'm very happy I can desing now for Pixie Dust Challenges! Than you very much for invitation, I hope you will like my work: )

I love challenges and I often take part in them. Sometimes the effects are really surprising.

Hi, my name is Chriss America Real. I have been happily married for 34 years and have two grown children. Kelly is 31 and Brian is 29. I am retired from Federal Government and I have two great passions in my life (well besides my husband) dogs and scrapbooking/cardmaking. When I retired, i looked around for something to do with my life. I adopted Louie a boxer/plott hound from a kill shelter and he has been my constant companion. I now volunteer for a dog rescue group and also teach dog obedience classes. My other passion is scrapbooking/cardmaking. I enjoy it so much. Hello, my name is Sheila. I am a mom, a wife, a teacher, a crafter, a reader, and a Pinterest Junkie (in that order, I think, though some days Pinterest might be closer to the beginning of that list!). I have been blogging for about six months now, and I love it! My style has changed so much from when I first started scrapping about eight years ago.... back then, I had decorative scissors and a set of shape stencils. My goal was to put as many pictures on a layout as possible! Now, armed with MANY more tools and supplies, I tend to do many single photo layouts. My style changes frequently, largely due to inspiration from places online like Pixie Dust Paperie. That is why I am so thrilled to be part of the Pixie Challenge Team. I am looking forward to working withe team to bring you our takes on each challenge.

Sassy

I'm Sassy and am so honored to be part of the Pixie Challenge Design Team. One of my 2011 challenges was to become part of a design team. Besides being chosen for this team I am also a member of the Perfect Sentiment Challenge Team.

I've enjoyed crafts for as long as I can remember. Besides crocheting and other needle arts, I began scrapbooking 10 years ago, never for myself but for others as hired and for gifts. For years, I didn't quite "get" stamping and what all the fuss and fun was about but once I became active on Splitcoastestampers a new world opened up. Altered art is my passion but also trying my hand at new techniques and working to master those I know but always wanting to perfect a bit more. I am addicted to paper and ink and can never have enough on hand to choose from for the next project. My style is outside-the-box as CAS is more difficult for me. Usually, I pull this and that off my shelves and put it together until I am happy and confident with my creation.

Ask me my age I will say I consider myself forever young-at-heart! Also, I became a cougar way before it took on the meaning it is associated with these days. My husband, Jason, is twelve years younger and he is the most amazing man. We have been married for seven years and together for fifteen. He is my true best friend and I never want to know a day without him. Also, I am the mother of two children (young adults) now 30 and 26, with three fur babies always under foot, and look forward to the day of grandchildren. My dream home is a hobby farm on a lake with llamas and pygmy goats. Notice I said my dream home, not Jason's. Leave out the llamas and goats and he is there 100+ percent!

Positive attitude is a must and happiness is my choice. I believe everyone has a creative side as each one's art is unique and comes in many different ways.

I look forward to this adventure and hope you like my creations.

whole lotta "LOVE NOTES" by lauren bergold

the january pixie dust paperie kit, ♥LOVE NOTES♥ is great for making sooooooo much more than valentines. having said that, if you'd like to make some completely FABULOUS ones, you can do that in a snap. see?!

i made all six of these mini-cards... (which will indeed serve as valentines for my nieces and nephews!) ...in about an hour, using nothing but cardstock, paper and my trusty dymo labeler. it really, REALLY helped that pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe packed this kit with the most gorgeous new love-themed papers from my mind's eye, american crafts, pink paislee and crate paper, and that nearly every sheet is double-sided-- giving me twice as many patterns with which to work.

the three layered heart is cut using the very first cuttlebug die i ever bought when i got my machine, yet it's still one of my favorites! mostly because, by cutting it just once from four or five different patterns, i can get a huge variety of mix-n-match looks from the same set up!

i ALWAYS love the smudgy look on the edges of my pieces, but honestly, this time i discovered at the very last minute that i didn't have any maroon dymo tape from which to punch my labels, and the black looked a little stark until i spread a bit of that color--in the form of ink, and also black machine stitching--throughout my design. so now you know my one of my tricks!!! ;)

here's another secret for you: i'm planning to get a friend who is unknown to the children in question to sign these "guess who"! i'm hoping to create a fun little mystery, but i'm not so sure it'll be successful; not only are they *VERY* smart... they've also seen quite a lot of my work!!! ♥♥♥

I’m back with another project for pixie dust paperie’s -- christmas in paris kit! I send out new years cards, and this is my card for next year. its clean and simple, in style, just like the new year.

I really like the orange and teal with the dark gray ruffle. its hard to see here, but the orange paper is scalloped at the bottom. I was able to 12 cards using these 3 papers and still have lots to play with!

pink parisienne pixie card by lauren bergold

some of my very most favorite card making ingredients are: pixie dust kits, bright pink embellishments, and images of the eiffel tower. so how excited am i that the december kit, CHRISTMAS IN PARIS combines all three?!

this card doesn't happen to have a holiday theme, although it could do, quite easily, with the addition of a few holly leaves and a "joyeux noel"! but at the moment i really need a feminine birthday card, so i left those off, and concentrated on the combination of gorgeous crate paper background, a glitz designs diecut rose, and a tim holtz metal "adornment", topped off with the frothy gathered cerise ribbon from the kit.

the eiffel tower was trimmed from GCD's "d'orsay" paper, i've circled the bit i used to show you how the collaged nature of this pattern meant that the lower bit of the "postcard" image was covered by other things:

at first glance you might think, "well i can't use THAT as a focal point, then!" but in fact a little neat trimming and the clever placement of embellishments at the bottom edge of the image counter that argument really well, don't you think?

my very favorite part of this, however, is the gorgeous white script on clear acrylic that i've used as a sort of mat for the postcard. is it yet another beautiful accent piece pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe has chosen for us? well, no, actually it's a bit of the translucent *PACKAGING* from the prima blossoms in the kit!!! an awesome bonus, am i right?! :)

Hi everyone! Paris! Oh how some of us just dream of going there....Well if you can't go, you can imagine it, with this gorgeous Christmas in Paris kit. You will just love the Paris pp included in this month's kit. For this lo I cut different pp's that are in the kit and embossed one of them, then I added a retro girl, from a pattern that I had, to come up with this lo showing a lucky gal (my dd, that went to Paris) and a gal dreaming of it.

today, I have a xmas card using both sides of one of the crate papers in the kit. the fabulous ruffled pink ribbon was gathered up to make a flower and in the center, there’s a pink gem. the flower base has some dictionary paper from the october kit-“blue moon”. this kit is so fun to work with-- I’ll be back with more soon:)

Hi everyone! Fun! Yes, that's exactly what this Christmas in Paris kit is! The name spells holiday, but the kit is full of a great mix so you can make a whole lot more! For this lo, I took one of the gorgeous Prima papers, added some paint to it, then I put one of the Glitz 'Whatnot' "you are my sunshine" cards on that along with a pic of my iPod, a circle cut from another gorgeous pp in the kit and then stamped it with a woman stamp that I had. After that I cut it into a star shape and sewed that onto this festive red background paper. To top it off I added a butterfly and a metal star from the Tim Holtz adornments package, which is in the kit.

Just think...what fun shape will you come up with!

singing joyfully CD holder by lauren bergold

our dear pixie-in-chief kirsty vittetoe absolutely ALWAYS rocks the category of "paper combining" when putting together the fabulous pixie kits, but for this month'sCHRISTMAS IN PARIS kit she has totally outdone herself, see?

for this 6x6" card i've used pink paislee's green scallop print, that gorgeous rich crate paper plaid, and a few details snipped from the webster's pages' holiday print. but it's not just the sweet little bird who'll be singing joyfully; so will my recipient, once they've opened it:

by folding up a flap on one side of my 12x6" card base, i made a little pocket into which i could slip one of my favorite holiday cd's! i printed the track list--and a festive greeting-- on clear inkjet labels from the office supply store, and affixed them to the card. i love that like most paper in pixie kits, the green scalloped pattern was double-sided, so there was no need for me to decorate the inside further... but i couldn't resist a few fussy cut blossoms!

speaking of blossoms, there's a gorgeous copper silk prima one on my front-cover collage. you get an entire pack of those, and i predict you'll love every single one! there are some gorgeous glitz design cardstock diecuts, too; the large victorian posie is one of them, i've popped it up on a bit of foam tape for extra dimension.

finally i ruffled and attached a bit of soft pink signature pixie dust seam binding, to act as a closure, and now i will just sit back and wait for this card's recipient to sing my praises!!! :)

I believe in pink... by Lynn Millers

hi everyone! I’m back with some more “christmas in paris” goodness:) I don’t have cute little ones running around, but we did just get a new puppy. I love her pinkness, and did a scrapbook page of her first picture. this kit has tons of die cuts and on this page, I used the “happy”, pink roses and the blue “I believe in pink die cuts.

I scallop punched the prima bkgd paper and stitched it down. the pink picture mat is some of the crate paper, in this kit. her name –bailey- was added using the glitz pink letters. and the pretty pink seam binding—that’s in the kit, too!
